My mom got this great new lounge chair and it is soooooooooooo much more comfortable than my dog bed on the hard flagstone. I can't resist.

A Hard Day At the Office
So today is official "Take Your Dog to Work Day" (TYDTWD). Here is a picture of me on the company shuttle riding in to work. I was the only dog on the shuttle and I was very well behaved (but of course!). Not a peep out of me. I just lay on my mom's lap. I had a good peek out the window though when we went over the Bay Bridge - I wasn't sure if it was boats or birds out there.

Hot Pink Toenail Caps
I don't know if you saw my post with my leg xrays, but if you did you would know that my front legs are a bit wonky. Aside from all the other issues, I have a permanent limp on my left side. Part of my left wrist joint is fused and so when I walk two of my nails drag. They get really short and if I walk too much on pavement they some times hit the quick and bleed. My mom used to use duct tape but then she found these cool caps (they're called Soft Paws). They work great - my nails have grown longer underneath them!

Temperament of an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT)
You hear and read so many bad things about us, but if you've ever known a properly bred and properly treated Pit Bull you know how sweet and loving we are and that we were bred for sound temperament. The stories you hear are about poorly bred dogs, abused dogs, irresponsible owners, etc. Here are a few great excerpts on our temperament (click here for more extensive info):
"We have high tech security systems because it would take torture and abuse to turn a TRUE APBT into a watch dog."
"Aggressive behavior toward humans is uncharacteristic of the breed and highly undesirable."
WWII Poster Dog - the beloved family pet and respected breed ... a Pit Bull.
"APBTs make excellent family companions and have always been noted for their love of children."
Remember Petey from The Little Rascals?? He was a Pit Bull. Pretty scary, huh?
"The APBT is not the best choice for a guard dog since they are extremely friendly, even with strangers."
"We have high tech security systems because it would take torture and abuse to turn a TRUE APBT into a watch dog."
How about the Buster Brown shoe dog?? Sweet Pit Bull.
"Aggressive behavior toward humans is uncharacteristic of the breed and highly undesirable."
"They do not show unprovoked aggressive behavior in ANY form to any person. If a judge even suspects that an APBT is fearful or aggressive they should be safe and dismiss the dog. A wagging tail is a must at least in the class dog rings!!!!"
WWII Poster Dog - the beloved family pet and respected breed ... a Pit Bull.
"Bottom line: The Standard notes that the essential characteristic of the breed are courage and a zest for life. The APBT should be ALIVE and NEVER NEVER NEVER FEARFUL!!!!"
Bottom line for me is that life is good. I'm happy. I'm always happy. I'm curious and courageous and I do have a zest for life. I'm not really afraid of anything - my parents take me to big parties, concerts, parades, bike races, etc. and I'm mostly just curious and happy to get love from strangers. I'm not scared.
Here are a bunch of great stories about Pit Bull heroes ... heart melters.

My Poor Little Legs
More Leg Xrays - Side Angle
Even if you can't read x-rays well I think you can tell that there is a lot going on in there that isn't right.
My doctor was shocked when he saw my x-rays - he said he couldn't believe I got around so well. He said it was a testament to my breed ... I know we look and act all soft and gushy, but we are pretty tough you know!

My New Collar
It's a Dublin Dog collar. 100% waterproof, no more dirty, wet, musty collars, and it's stylish! My mom got it at our favorite local pet shop in Alameda, Dog Bone Alley - they are Pit Bull friendly, have great products ... and they always give me treats! Since we are mentoning pet stores though, we also really love the Berkeley location of George - they also love Pit Bulls!!
