Chillin' On My New Lounge Chair

My mom got this great new lounge chair and it is soooooooooooo much more comfortable than my dog bed on the hard flagstone. I can't resist.
It was bright out and my mom was nice enough to bring me some shades. Maybe too just a wee snack and it would all be perfect ... is that too much for a dog to ask??

A Hard Day At the Office

It's over and we are waiting for the shuttle to pick us up and take us home. It was a fun day and I can't wait to do it again next year. Actually my dad takes me to his office all the time, so although it was fun for me I think it was even more fun for my mom.

I met some other nice dogs, took a few walks, and met a TON of people. It was exhausting. I don't know how my mom does this everyday! Here is a pic of me resting in her office.

Visiting with Courtney.

Visiting with Carla.

All visitors have to have a badge ... here is mine. Not a stellar picture. Oh well.
So today is official "Take Your Dog to Work Day" (TYDTWD). Here is a picture of me on the company shuttle riding in to work. I was the only dog on the shuttle and I was very well behaved (but of course!). Not a peep out of me. I just lay on my mom's lap. I had a good peek out the window though when we went over the Bay Bridge - I wasn't sure if it was boats or birds out there.

Hot Pink Toenail Caps

I don't know if you saw my post with my leg xrays, but if you did you would know that my front legs are a bit wonky. Aside from all the other issues, I have a permanent limp on my left side. Part of my left wrist joint is fused and so when I walk two of my nails drag. They get really short and if I walk too much on pavement they some times hit the quick and bleed. My mom used to use duct tape but then she found these cool caps (they're called Soft Paws). They work great - my nails have grown longer underneath them!

There is also the added bonus of more attention as everyone thinks I had my nails painted - they have to stop and comment, and say 'hi' ... and of course, I have to lick them!

Luca and I - Happy As Clams!!

It was a rough day of playing ... but so worth it. Can you see the joy?!
Don't be scared. He loves me and he is SO fun ... we are just a bit mouthy when we play. It's our style.

Temperament of an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT)

You hear and read so many bad things about us, but if you've ever known a properly bred and properly treated Pit Bull you know how sweet and loving we are and that we were bred for sound temperament. The stories you hear are about poorly bred dogs, abused dogs, irresponsible owners, etc. Here are a few great excerpts on our temperament (click here for more extensive info):

"APBTs make excellent family companions and have always been noted for their love of children."

Remember Petey from The Little Rascals?? He was a Pit Bull. Pretty scary, huh?

"The APBT is not the best choice for a guard dog since they are extremely friendly, even with strangers."

"We have high tech security systems because it would take torture and abuse to turn a TRUE APBT into a watch dog."

How about the Buster Brown shoe dog?? Sweet Pit Bull.

"Aggressive behavior toward humans is uncharacteristic of the breed and highly undesirable."

"They do not show unprovoked aggressive behavior in ANY form to any person. If a judge even suspects that an APBT is fearful or aggressive they should be safe and dismiss the dog. A wagging tail is a must at least in the class dog rings!!!!"

WWII Poster Dog - the beloved family pet and respected breed ... a Pit Bull.

"Bottom line: The Standard notes that the essential characteristic of the breed are courage and a zest for life. The APBT should be ALIVE and NEVER NEVER NEVER FEARFUL!!!!"

Bottom line for me is that life is good. I'm happy. I'm always happy. I'm curious and courageous and I do have a zest for life. I'm not really afraid of anything - my parents take me to big parties, concerts, parades, bike races, etc. and I'm mostly just curious and happy to get love from strangers. I'm not scared.

Here are a bunch of great stories about Pit Bull heroes ... heart melters.

My Poor Little Legs

So, the picture is a bit small, but aside from the pins, these are essentially what a pair of good front dog legs look like. Notice the bones are straight and smooth along the edges. Now, wait 'til you see mine ... scroll down.

These are my legs. Notice the nubs on the right leg and all the scarring. Also the torqued angle of the bone in my left leg. This is why I limp.
I am totally fine with it ... I have a very happy life, but I know my mom is a bit sad and wishes my bones could have been fixed.

More Leg Xrays - Side Angle

Even if you can't read x-rays well I think you can tell that there is a lot going on in there that isn't right.
My doctor was shocked when he saw my x-rays - he said he couldn't believe I got around so well. He said it was a testament to my breed ... I know we look and act all soft and gushy, but we are pretty tough you know!

Me With a Piece of Chicken on My Nose

How good am I ... resisting the wafting smell of freshly cooked chicken piercing my nostrils ... just dying for my mom to tell me "OK".

A rest from playing ...

Post-Bath in my Rubber Ducky Robe

Do I really need a robe? Is it a big deal if I walk around the house without it on? It isn't like I'm naked. Is this all just part of the "cute" thing people are into??

Alameda's Next Top Model

You want an 8x10 framed glossy for your wall, don't you?? Just email my agent, she'll fix you up.

My New Collar

It's a Dublin Dog collar. 100% waterproof, no more dirty, wet, musty collars, and it's stylish! My mom got it at our favorite local pet shop in Alameda, Dog Bone Alley - they are Pit Bull friendly, have great products ... and they always give me treats! Since we are mentoning pet stores though, we also really love the Berkeley location of George - they also love Pit Bulls!!
Everyone thinks I'm a boy in my blue collars ... now I am DEFINITELY a girl!

They Just Don't Learn - Headset No. 2

Headset No. 2 met its demise in my dainty jaws. I've been a lot better lately, I don't really chew anything when they leave ... I guess I was really bored. Note: if you do happen to do something like this, look at your parents with really cute sad eyes. They'll forgive you - I promise!
